At the BDS, we realise that our members are concerned about their personal privacy. The following paragraphs address these and most other issues regarding the BDS Privacy Policy. The Privacy Act 1993 sets out 12 information privacy principles that deal with collection, holding, use and disclosure of personal information. For enquiries or to request access to the information that we hold about you, you should Contact Us. Be assured, the BDS will not sell or rent your phone number, email address or mailing address to anyone outside the organisation for commercial purposes. If you have indicated on the BDS website or the BDS enrolment form that your group is open to the referral of prospective members by the BDS, they will be referred to groups in the geographic area. The relevant convenor names and telephone numbers will then be supplied.

It is necessary for the BDS to collect certain personal information from you so that we may offer you effective and efficient service.

We will:

Only collect information from you with your knowledge and consent

Only use personal information provided by you for the purposes for which it was collected

Not disclose your personal information to a third party unless your prior consent is obtained

Ensure that your personal information will not be disclosed to state institutions or authorities except if required by law or other regulation, and

Remove personal information from our system where it is no longer required.

We have implemented technology and security systems, policies and measures to protect the personal information that we have under our control from unauthorised access, improper uses, alteration, unlawful or accidental destruction and accidental loss.
