A Dannevirke book group has battled the effects of Cyclone Gabrielle in order to make their meeting.

Pam Menzies of DANNE 001 recently sent us some pictures of her group's adventurous journey to book club.

"One of our group members has had no road access to her house since Cyclone Gabrielle. We were told to wear gumboots and bring a torch."

Not to be deterred from their monthly discussion, the group took the advice of their host, booted up and prepared to make the journey.

"We had to cross the Manawatu river on a temporary footbridge and then had a ride up the hill to our member's house in her paddock car. It was an adventure!"
